Shortage in Vaccine, Serum Institute of India to Increase Production - Covid-19
Serum Institute of India & Bharat Biotech possesses to submit their manufacturing proposal for the successive four months as numerous states proceed to record the deficits of COVID-19 vaccines.
While Pune-based Serum Institute announced it can ramp up the manufacturing to 10 crores, the Hyderabad-situated Bharat Biotech explained they can put forward the manufacturing to 7.8 crore doses by August.
Dr. V Krishna Mohan, Director of Bharat Biotech informed the Union Health Ministry & the office of Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) that the manufacturing of COVAXIN can be lifted to 3.32 crore in July & 7.82 crores in August, which can moreover be conserved in September.
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) had too declared that Covaxin's Manufacturing potential will be made twice as much by May to June 2021 & then boosted around 6 to 7 fold by July to August 2021.
This appears after a month an inter-ministerial organization including Joint Secretary in the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Rajneesh Tingal & Joint Secretary in Health Ministry Dr. Mandeep Bhandari attended the manufacturing capabilities of Serum Institute of India & Bharat Biotech in April.
